ETA, the armed Basque separatist group is expected to announce a ceasefire.

It is unclear if this is a temporary or permanent ceasefire and the Spanish government have not made a comment but it is well known that Spanish government said it will only talk to ETA if it renounces violence and disarms.

Fernando Alonso Díaz, a Spanish Formula One racing driver and a two-time World Champion, has had his thumbs insured for $13.33 million (10 million euro). Diaz is currently racing for Ferrari alongside Felipe Massa.

I am no expert in these matters but have always thought it seems daft to bury rubbish that could be burnt to generate electricity.

Researchers from the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR) have calculated the energy and economic potential of urban solid waste, sludge from water treatment plants and livestock slurry for generating electricity in Spain. These residues are alternative sources of renewable energy, which are more environmentally friendly and, in the case of solid urban waste, more cost effective.

There has been another bomb in Spain at a police office. This time it has killed two officers.

At least two Civil Guard officers have been killed by a car bomb blast outside a barracks in the west of the Spanish island of Majorca, officials say.
